The test format

PTE Academic has three main parts:

Preparation tips

Speaking

• PTE speaking tasks are short and timed. Practice reading aloud smoothly and at a natural pace.
• For “Repeat Sentence”, focus on catching the key words and structure.
• Speak clearly into the microphone - PTE is sensitive to pronunciation and fluency.

Writing

• The essay is scored on content, form, grammar, vocabulary, and spelling. All matter.
• “Summarise Written Text” must be a single sentence - practise this specific skill.
• Time management is critical - do not overspend on one task.

Reading and Listening

• “Write from Dictation” contributes to both listening and writing scores. Practise this heavily.
• “Fill in the Blanks” tests vocabulary and collocations. Read widely.

PTE vs IELTS
