Tips.
- ANMAC assessment is for migration only - you will separately need AHPRA registration to practise in Australia. Start both processes in parallel to save time.
- Your nursing program must include sufficient supervised clinical practice hours. If your program was shorter than Australian standards, you may need to complete a bridging program.
- The modified skills assessment pathway is available for some visa subclasses and has different requirements. Check which pathway applies to your visa type.

Frequently asked questions.
Is ANMAC assessment the same as AHPRA registration?
No. ANMAC assesses your qualifications for migration purposes. AHPRA registration is a separate process required to practise nursing in Australia. You need both: ANMAC for your visa, and AHPRA to work as a nurse.
What English test scores does ANMAC require?
ANMAC requires IELTS 7.0 in each band (or equivalent OET B / PTE 65). This is higher than the standard migration English requirement and aligns with AHPRA registration requirements.
Can midwives apply through ANMAC?
Yes, ANMAC also assesses midwifery qualifications. The process is similar but the qualification requirements are specific to midwifery education standards.
